All the Colors of the World

1. The World Behind The Sky
(Steve Vozzolo)

Out of thin air, into my head, into my imagination
Add a touch of my heart, out of my mind, come the words of inspiration
Paint me a picture, I’ll paint you a song, colors of infatuation

I’m a painter of words, yes I am, a painter of dreams
Try living in fiction, it’s so fine, just try
I am a creation of my imagination
I hold the key that opens the door that leads
To the world behind the sky, the world behind the sky

Maybe I’m crazy, maybe finally sane, I am free of expectation
I’m on the road, that leads to the sky, crystal clear blue destination
I’m searching for silence, so I can hear with my heart, love needs no explanation

I’m a painter of words, yes I am, a painter of dreams
Try living in fiction, it’s so fine, just try
I am a creation of my imagination
I hold the key that opens the door that leads
To the world behind the sky, the world behind the sky
If you’re looking for me I’ll be in the world behind the sky

2. Four Freedoms
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

A man stands up for the things he believes
With passion and fire he speaks from the heart
His friends turn away ’cause they just don’t see
He stands by the words that set him apart
For the sake of the truth we all seek
We have the right to speak
Oh, we have the right, we have the right
We have the right to speak

A child wakes up and cries in the night
His mother is there to keep him from harm
She holds him tight and whispers his name
Rocks him to sleep in her loving arms
For the sake of the child we hold so dear
We have the right to be free from fear
Oh, we have the right, we have the right
The right to be free from fear

A family sits down on a Sunday
Gives thanks for the blessings they receive
But a man who is hungry is a man who can never be free
That man could be you or me

In an old white church in a New England town
(In an old white church in an American town)
(alternative lyric)
The music rings out and the people rise
Side by side, they worship their God
They pray unafraid for they realize
That across this land all men are free
We have the right to believe
We have the right, we have the right
We have the right to believe
Freedom of speech, freedom from fear, freedom from want, freedom to believe.

3. All The Colors Of The World
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

A young girl walks to school in an angry town
An old man sleeps in the park as the rain comes down
A million people walk hand in hand, we shall all be free
When the sun comes up in the morning sky I see...

All the colors of the world, flashing across the sky
Blending in blinding light, all the colors of the world
I see the light of a million faces shining down from the sky
The colors of the world

A child cries out in the street in a war torn land
A soldier lays down his gun takes the child’s hand
People sail from a distant shore, longing to be free
When the sun goes down in the evening sky I see...

All the colors of the world, flashing across the sky
Blending in blinding light, all the colors of the world
I see the light of a million faces shining down from the sky
The colors of the world

A young girl walks to school in an angry town
An old man sleeps in the park as the rain comes down
A child cries out in the street in a war torn land
A soldier lays down his gun takes the child’s hand

4. One More Day
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

One more day, one more sunrise
Yesterday’s sorrow fades away
All His blessings overwhelm me
I thank God for one more day

I was lonely, my heart was aching
All alone, too weak to pray
But my spirit was never broken
All I asked for was one more day

I was hungry, my soul was empty
I got lost along the way
By His spirit, His love and mercy
I was given one more day

5. Girl At The Mirror
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

Girl at the mirror, what do you see?
When you look in the mirror do you see what I see?
Spring is bursting out around you, flowers are in bloom
Do all your dreams come true inside your room?

Girl at the mirror, what do you know?
Do you feel a million different feelings start to grow?
Night is gone, day is dawning, sun is on the rise
All your dreams are showing in your eyes

Do you dance when no one else can see?
Do you sing when no one is listening?
Do you close your eyes and make a wish, a wish you’ll never tell?
Sing another song and then, dance across the room again

Girl at the mirror, what do you see?
When you look in the mirror do you see what I see?

6. Organize A New Universe
(Steve Vozzolo)

I heard the circus is coming to town
We’ll make friends with the circus clowns
The acrobats and the horseback riders
The tightrope walkers and the trapeze flyers

We’ll make friends with the fire eater
The ringmaster will be our leader
Next thing we’ll do is gag all the lawyers
And secretly disarm all the planet destroyers

By magic we’ll make this world spin in reverse and
We’ll organize a new universe

When the time is right we’ll let the animals out
All the people will sing and shout
The circus girls will lead the parade
To celebrate the new world we made

By magic we’ll make this world spin in reverse and
We’ll organize a new universe

We’ll see this through to the very end
We’ll stick together through thick and thin
The circus girls will lead the parade
To celebrate the new world we made

By magic we’ll make this world spin in reverse and
We’ll organize a new universe

7. The Fishin’ Hole
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

Saturday morning break of dawn
Me and Grandpa are already gone
Lots of news to catch up on
Down at the fishin’ hole

It’s a place where no one goes
Only me and my Grandpa know
The hours go by nice and slow
Down at the fishin’ hole

Down at the fishin’ hole
Sittin’ in the sun with a fishin’ pole
I could stay here ’till I grow old
Down at the fishin’ hole

All I need is my Grandpa sittin’ right by my side
A can of worms and a comic book
A little tug on my hook
It’s all right if the fish don’t bite

That big old sun is sinking low
Grandpa says that it’s time to go
But we’ll be back another day you know
Down at the fishin’ hole

Down at the fishin’ hole
Sittin’ in the sun with a fishin’ pole
I could stay here ’till I grow old
Down at the fishin’ hole

8. Breaking Home Ties
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

Breaking home ties, so longs and good-byes
Your Mama’s gonna miss you...

Son, you know I was born and raised on this farm
When your Grandpa died I was just seventeen
I had my dreams but I was needed at home
There are miles to travel and places to see

Breaking home ties, so longs and good-byes
This is something I find so hard to do
Son, you’re a man now, there’s no doubt
Your Mama’s gonna miss you and Son, I will too

Son, when it rains, oh, let the rain fall
Never give up on your wildest dreams
Be willing to change keep an open mind
And always stand up for the things you believe

Breaking home ties, so longs and good-byes
There are miles to travel and places to see
Son, don’t forget about your Mama and me
Breaking home ties, so long, good-bye

9. So Long Main Street
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

Down on the corner there’s an old drug store
Closing tomorrow says the sign on the door
On a stool there’s a school boy, he’s sittin’ there all alone
He lays down two quarters for a strawberry cone

So long main street, so long
You have a place in my heart that will live on
You’re a part of this country but you’re fading away
So long main street USA

We used to meet at the diner at the break of dawn
That old greasy spoon was open all night long
Used to root for the good guys at the Saturday matinee
And watch the big parade on Independence Day

From the highway you can’t see the court house or the green
Small town life for most is just a post card or a dream
So long main street

10. Norman Always Knew
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

I’ve been from Maine to Texas, I’ve searched from coast to coast
For the country on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post
On every road I’ve traveled, in all the places I’ve passed through
I saw the faces of America that Norman always knew

There’s so much that we owe this man, with a pipe in his mouth and a brush in his hand
His pictures made us understand what Norman always knew
No matter how the world may change, these words sing out like
an old refrain
Deep inside we’re all the same, Norman always knew

The young girl at the mirror, the boy with the fishing pole
The family all together, the young man leaving home
The wonder of young lovers, the old folks love still true
The special feelings that we share, Norman always knew
Yes, deep inside we’re all the same, Norman Rockwell knew

11. Love Is A Dancing Flame
(Steve Vozzolo)

I found the poem you wrote between the pages of a book
You left it in a place you knew I’d find it
Please tell me, don’t deny it
Did you write the poem for me?
You know I’ve always loved your poetry
You’ve never written words as sad as these

Love is a dancing flame, a changing sky, sounds that fill the night
I dreamed I heard an angel sigh, I dreamed I saw a fading light
How sweet to hear a lullaby
How sad to say the word goodbye

Did we fall asleep inside, did something inside just die?
Have I lost you, have you found somebody new?
Is there something I can do?
Is our love a shattered dream?
You know I’ve always loved your poetry
I’m trying to understand what this one means

Love is a dancing flame, a changing sky, sounds that fill the night
I dreamed I heard an angel sigh, I dreamed I saw a fading light
How sweet to hear a lullaby
How sad to say the word goodbye

A dancing flame, a changing sky
How sad to say the word goodbye

12. Sometimes It Rains
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

Baseball is a very simple game
Baseball is a very simple game
You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball, yes you do
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains

When it rains, it’s a low down broken hearted doggone shame
When it rains, the umpires say there ain’t gonna be no game today

Baseball is a lot of fun to play
Baseball is a lot of fun to play
You slide in the dirt, you dig and you dive, you spit in the dugout, yes you do
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains

When it rains, it’s a low down broken hearted doggone shame
When it rains, the umpires say there ain’t gonna be no game today

13. Rock-A-Bye Baby
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

The long road that runs through the heart of your life

Somehow has brought you to me
The footsteps of heartache still wake you at night
Like thunder in your memory
So hold me and say you’ll be mine
We’ll find forever this time

So rock-a-bye baby dream of my love
I’ll still be here when the sun comes up
I’m right beside you to keep you from harm
So rock-a-bye baby you’re safe in my arms

Will you look at that moon like a faraway flame
Burning our names in the sky
And the air smells like summer after the rain
As we kiss those dark clouds goodbye
So hold me and say you’ll be mine
We’ll find forever this time

So rock-a-bye baby dream of my love
I’ll still be here when the sun comes up
I’m right beside you to keep you from harm
So rock-a-bye baby you’re safe in my arms

14. Keeper Of The Lighthouse
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

The light streams in the window as another day begins
The sky is gray this morning, the seagulls ride the wind
I’m the keeper of the lighthouse, I sit with pen in hand
In my diary I will tell of a simple life, a simple man

I counted thirteen ships passing in the night
When the captain sounds the whistle I know he sees the light
The waves were crashing fiercely, the sea wall needs repair
The tide will soon be turning, there’s a cold and salty mist in the air

I keep the lighthouse flame burning bright
Through wind and rain and fog, a strong and never ending light
Across a stormy sea, through the mystery of the night
I keep the lighthouse flame burning bright

I will ask Suzanne on Sunday if she will be my wife
I’ll promise that forever she will share my life
As keeper of the lighthouse, keeper of the night
Like my Father did before me, I will keep the flame burning bright

I keep the lighthouse flame burning bright
Through wind and rain and fog, a strong and never ending light
Across a stormy sea, through the mystery of the night
I keep the lighthouse flame burning bright

15. Across The Street From Carnegie Hall
(Steve Vozzolo)

Yes, I know, it looks like rain today
Just the same, I’m gonna give it a try
People the show must go on today
At the mercy of the wind and the rain, under the gray New York City sky

I do it for the old time music
When they see my tuxedo they smile
They stop and listen to me
They celebrate their joy and their pain,
they celebrate life for awhile

Now appearing in New York the world’s greatest street singer
Playing music free for all
Come one, come all see the guy
with the guitar
Across the street from Carnegie Hall

I’ve played for millions, five or ten at a time
Some days I make a dollar, most days
I make a dime

If you’re ever in New York City
West 57, near 165
Come I’ll play my music for you
At the mercy of the wind and the rain,
the world’s greatest street singer survives

Now appearing in New York the world’s greatest street singer
Playing music free for all
Come one, come all see the guy
with the guitar
Across the street from Carnegie Hall

16. Thanksgiving Day
(Steve Vozzolo-Joe Manning)

I’m thankful for America, I’m thankful for my friends
I’m thankful for my Mom and Dad,
the Pilgrims and the Indians
I’m thankful for my cat and dog,
I’m thankful that I’m free
For the turkey on the table and the pumpkin pie, I’m thankful that I’m me

Momma’s in the kitchen, Daddy’s choppin’ wood
I’m just sittin’ here thinkin’, the turkey smells so good
My cousins will be coming by just in time to eat
They’ll hang around and wreck our house and then they’ll up and leave

Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Day
Let us be thankful each and every day

It’s ten o’clock Thanksgiving Night,
I just can’t sleep
I’m thinkin’ ’bout the people who just don’t have enough to eat
I’d like to share the things I have, oh,
I wish that it could be
That all the people in the world had just as much as me

Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Day
Let us be thankful each and every day

17. Main Street Stockbridge

18. Where Did All Of Those Years Go?
(Steve Vozzolo)

There is a love for which there is no love song
A love beyond the painter’s masterpiece
A love of which the poets can’t tell
A love that lasts until the end of time

Where did all of those years go?
The first sign of spring and the winter’s first snow?
Where did all of those years go?
The first sign of spring and the winter’s first snow?

A love beyond the painter’s masterpiece...
